We just shipped the Print and Play files
almost 4 years ago – Thu, May 07, 2020 at 02:31:49 PM

It took us a little longer than planned, for which we'd like to offer our sincere apologies, but today we finally shipped the Print and Play files to all backers that selected this reward. With these files, backers can create their very own copy of the deck. To facilitate different printing preferences, we included the files in several formats, including files that support the popular 'Fold' method for printing playing cards.

The Print and Play files contain files suitable for the 'Fold' printing method

As a bonus, we also made a simplified version of the deck available under the GPLv3 license, allowing others to build on our work. SVG files for the simplified card images can be found on Github: https://github.com/spelinbedrijf/ultimateplanningpoker. Of course we very much welcome pictures of work you've created with these cards!

Slight delay due to Corona
about 4 years ago – Thu, Apr 16, 2020 at 11:21:47 AM

So, the world is on fire. Nothing is what it used to be anymore. At least, for now. And that is starting to affect this Kickstarter as well. Not in the sense that we won't be able to deliver. But it will take a little longer. Getting the game production-ready is an activity that now has to compete with other, sometimes more important, things. Time is scarce, and so we are now likely facing a slight delay.

Right now, we are working on finalizing the deck. As soon as that is done, we will be shipping out the Print & Play version of the game. Also, we are considering publishing a version of this game on Tabletopia, so that you can play Planning Poker online with your friends.

There is another setback: we got word from our postal service that, due to the Corona crisis, shipping rates will temporarily go up. Quite considerably, actually; about 3 to 4 euro per package. We are currently looking for ways to remedy this, but we may at some point have to ask for your help there.

Last two days!
about 4 years ago – Mon, Feb 24, 2020 at 11:57:22 PM

This little #Make100 project has now entered its last 48 hours. And actually we crossed the 3,000 euro threshold tonight, which to us feels very special. The original goal of this project was to raise 600 euro, so reaching 5 times that goal is awesome. Which leads to...

2 "Stretch goals" unlocked!

We never really anticipated the success of this project, and so we didn't feel adding stretch goals would make sense. But it seems we were wrong. We have been thinking about what would be an appropriate 'stretch goal' for this project. Of course, we didn't want to throw in anything useless that would be thrown away immediately. So what we came up was this:

  •  We will include a mini-book with a more detailed explanation of the 'rules' of Scrum Planning Poker; the decks already contain a rule reference card, but the booklet will certainly help you understand planning poker better.
  •  Every backer will receive free credits to use in our late-pledge Backerkit shop. You will be able to use those credits towards getting an extra deck or perhaps the print & play version. The amount of credits will depend on the pledge level: 2 euro for single-deck pledges, 3 euro for double and triple deck pledges and 5 euro for the 8 deck pledge.
Every backer will receive free credits to spend in our late-pledge shop!

Your very own design? Yes!

One of our backers recently asked whether it would be possible to get a copy of the deck with their own backside design. We had to ask our manufacturer, but it turns out that is very much possible. The only downside is that this will add 100 euro of 'plate changing' costs. So custom card decks only make sense if you would have at least 50 decks printed.

Moral of this story: if you would really like getting cool Scrum Planning Poker decks with your own branding, drop Michiel a message to discuss the possibilities: [email protected].

More than €2,000 pledged!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 12, 2020 at 09:34:33 PM

It's been some days since we last shared an update. That's not because we don't care, but mainly because we didn't want to bother you with updates without any actual news.

But today, we decided to make a tiny little exception. There isn't any real news about the campaign or the deck. But we crossed the magic €2,000 pledged threshold and that is something we really wanted to mention. Why? Because we never expected this and feel really grateful for all the support!

Share your wisdom!

And now that we've got your attention, this would probably be a good time to ask you to share some of your wisdom. The planning poker cards will contain a mix of thought-provoking Agile/Scrum-related quotes, Magic 8-ball answers, and coaching questions.

We already have an extensive collection of these, but are open for new input. So if you have any really good quotes or coaching questions you'd like to share, please do! Also, any ideas for (even) more features are always welcome!

Fully funded in just 2 days!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Jan 31, 2020 at 07:05:04 AM

Yesterday, just after midnight we first hit the 100% mark. Shortly after, somebody canceled his pledge, but it didn't take long for somebody else to pledge instead. And that means this campaign was funded in just 2 days. That is way faster than we expected!

The last few days I have had questions from a few people whether it would be possible to order a custom edition of the deck, that is with their corporate logo on the back. And that is indeed possible, although it would not make sense to do that for less than 100 decks. So that may be something to keep in mind!
